FREE DOWNLOAD - My Name is Moses - Summertime the cover is a Super Yoga Palace collaborative that was originally performed by DJ Jazzy Jeff And The Fresh Prince.

The track was birthed over a bucket list conversation between Jessica Jordan, long time vocalist for The Polyphonic Spree, and husband, creative director Josh David Jordan.

Dinner with Datahowler led to a groovy track Ross Edman crafted and sent to Jessica prior to the Polyphonic Spree's Phase 3 You+Me tour. Scratch vocals and raps were laid upon with the suggestion of Daniel Huffman, recording engineer for the afternoon, who was paid with hugs and a gluten free pizza on a day off in DC - Chinatown.  A hotel room with a laptop, borrowed band mic and copperphones, is where we began.

Summertime represents more then the inaugural track of music to come, but a fusion of heart rooted friendships and talent years in the making. Summertime features the amazing intuitive production of Ross Edman - Datahowler, the spacey sound insertions and engineering of Daniel Huffman - New Fumes, and the synergistic strings of Cellist Buffi Jacobs - The Polyphonic Spree

This is the story of how I got so badly sun burned, I didn't sleep for a week, began to hallucinate and ended up going to the hospital. It was like I spent a week just hanging out in a cave, trying to heal from sun-poisoning & losing my mind.

I wrote a light-hearted song about it and made this little movie (filmed quickly in just two hours) with the help of some friends including camera man, Jonathan Rudak. Jill Foley made the incredible "Mountain". Thanks to Jill and the Conduit Gallery for letting us film in there. Wow, how lucky am I?!

One afternoon, Pilotdrift’s frontman, Kelly was picking through old archive footage to use as part of the video for this track.  By happenstance, he came across a newsreel clip that eerily matched the song in more ways than one.  This is the actual archived newsreel, it has not been edited in any way…

Produced by Kelly Scot Carr; Edited by Chris Walker (FussBudget Media).
Taken from public domain, archived footage of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapse.

"It's Christmas" is an original Christmas song composed by Tim DeLaughter and recorded in the fall of 2003.  The song was lost in the shuffle during the early stages of the Together We're Heavy recording sessions. The files were recently found... and finally mixed. The song has appeared at every Polpyhonic Spree Christmas show. Oscar, age 3, makes a genuine appearance on recording as he is caught on tape while hanging with his dad, Tim, during the vocal session.

Preteen Zenith was an album before it was a band. DeLaughter was writing and recording demos of new songs in early 2009, documenting ideas for what may have been a new Polyphonic Spree album or a solo album. Around this time, Karnats (who has also played with Secret Machines and Ike Reilly, and released a solo album on Good Records Recordings in 2006) invited DeLaughter to Chicago to do some improvising and recording.

Unbeknownst to DeLaughter, his wife and longtime collaborator/co-conspirator Julie Doyle decided to share the barebones demos with Karnats, figuring that they could use a "plan b" in case the improvised sessions didn't pan out. By the time DeLaughter embarked to Chicago, Karnats had fallen in love with the demos, and greeted DeLaughter with a variety of ideas on how to build on them.

DeLaughter arrived in Karnats' home studio with a station wagon full of gear, and they burned the midnight oil for 17 days. A second, 10-day session followed at Walshtown Retreat Cabin near Memphis, a backwoods cabin that they transformed into a functioning studio with isolations booths and tracking rooms. In between a few fishing excursions, more songs were recorded, and a brand new one was written. The songs began to take shape as something different than a solo album or a Polyphonic Spree album, and a new band was born.

In the spring of 2011, Gorilla Vs. Bear blogger Chris Cantalini was organizing a festival at the Granada Theater in Dallas, and called DeLaughter to ask about the new project he'd heard rumors about. In July, Preteen Zenith made its live debut (and only performance to date, though more shows are in the works for this summer) at the Gorilla Vs. Bear Festival with a stunning light show and six-member lineup. "Overwhelming as the visual bombast was, the music was perfectly suited to it," wrote the Dallas Observer in a review of the set. "Chaotic and loud as it got, the ear-candy melodies were always discernable. Dynamic, too: Songs would build up from DeLaughter's solitary plinking of pretty piano melodies and burst into chest-thumping, head-pounding storms of noise."

In November 2011, Preteen Zenith released its first song, "Breathe," in conjunction with the relaunch of DeLaughter and Doyle's independent label, Good Records Recordings.

2. Relief
3. Damage Control (featuring Erykah Badu)

Breathe is a visual mash-up of 16mm films that were produced in the 1970's ('Use Your Eyes' by Hans Halberstadt and 'Light Is Many Things' by Paul and Glenda Fillinger) with music by Preteen Zenith.

It's little children dreaming in God's great outdoors and it's grown-ups who have kept the faith in childhood, seeking inspiration for their work in the things that are all around them. Compiled by the one and only Michael Allen of Project Ion fame.

"The Tops Off Our Head" was sort of a stream of consciousness 22 minute EP made by Tripping Daisy improvising in the studio to document the creative spirit and force of the band.  Released in a very small run on CD with photocopied artwork it now sees the light of day again remastered on 180 gram LP as well as high quality download.

The audio that accompanies this video is a late night, spontaneous mash-up of sorts, using samples from the original EP. The video is the same thing, mostly made up of footage from "Jesus Hits Like the Atom Bomb" era, Tripping Daisy. The result here is very loose, spontaneous and fun, much like the band itself.  Thanks to Daniel Huffman for creating the mash up and editing the footage together.
